Dear Valued Client,
We are writing to inform you that, starting on Monday, February 10, 2025, we will begin migrating all cPanel accounts from our current server (wasp.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com) to our new server (aang.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com). This migration is essential to ensure continued support, enhanced security, and better performance for your hosting services.
Why Are We Migrating?
- Operating System Support: The current server runs on CentOS 7.9, which cPanel no longer supports. This means no future software updates or security patches will be available.
- Improved Performance: The new server has the latest hardware, offering faster load times and more reliable service.
- New Features: We will be using CloudLinux 9, enabling new functionalities and improvements within cPanel.
How Will This Affect Your Services?
-
Minimal Downtime
- Each account will experience a brief downtime of approximately 5–10 minutes during migration.
- For some locations, websites may be temporarily inaccessible for up to 1 hour due to DNS propagation.
-
IP Address Change
- Most websites will be assigned a new IP address (unless they already have a dedicated IP).
-
No Additional Service Changes
- All current settings (PHP versions, email settings, etc.) will remain the same, except for the hostname change.
What Do You Need to Do?
-
Update Email Server Settings
- Check if You Need to Update:
- Open your email client (e.g., Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird) and navigate to the account settings.
- Look for your incoming and outgoing mail servers. If they are set to wasp.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com, you must update them to aang.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com.
- If you are using your own domain name (e.g., mail.yourdomain.com) for incoming/outgoing mail, you likely do not need to make any changes.
- You will only need to make this change once you encounter any email issues.
-
Change Your MySQL Password
- We strongly recommend updating your MySQL password to a secure, complex password (for example, something like
uUVtDMuL3Ey9yhp6).
- If not changed, the MySQL server may automatically assign a random password, potentially causing service interruptions.
Migration Schedule
- Start Date: Monday, February 10, 2025, at 11:00 PM GMT
- End Date: Friday, February 14, 2025
We will work daily from 11:00 AM GMT to 10:00 PM GMT to minimize disruption.
After the Migration
-
Testing
- We will check that your website and email services are functioning normally immediately after each account is migrated.
- However, we cannot fully test external applications that we do not have access to (e.g., third-party apps).
-
DNS Cache Clearing
- If your website or email is not working from your computer after the migration, your PC or router may still be pointing to the old server.
- To fix this, restart your router or flush the DNS cache on your computer:
Windows:
- Open Command Prompt
- Type
ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter
macOS:
- Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
- Use the appropriate command for your OS version (e.g.,
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder)
- Press Enter
