Starting Saturday (02.03.2024) we will migrate all the cPanel accounts from the grut.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com server to the new server named vados.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com.
Currently, the physical server is degraded and we need to perform this migration as soon as possible.
Why we are doing this operation?
- The server at the moment is running on CentOS 7.9 which is no longer supported by cPanel since 2023.
- cPanel will not offer assistance for the servers running on CentOS 7.9 as their new software will not be supported on this version.
- Security updates will not be released starting December 2023.
Are there any new benefits? Yes.
- The new machine will be on a new brand server with the latest hardware which will speed up the running services.
- The machine will be installed with CloudLinux 8 also, new features will be added to the cPanel.
Are there any impacts on the services? No.
- We will move the cPanel accounts to the new machine which is configured with the same settings as grut.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com .
- The websites will be moved to a new IP address. (except the accounts with dedicated IP).
Are there any changes that should be done by the client? Yes.
- As the server hostname will be changed to vados.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com, all the email clients configured for outgoing/incoming server with grut.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com needs to be changed to the new hostname. ( You will need to do this operation once you encounter email problems).
- The MySQL password should be changed with a stronger one example "uUVtDMuL3Ey9yhp6". If the password is not changed, the MySQL server might change it to a random string and some services will not work properly.
What happens if my services are affected?
- We are migrating the services live starting at 11:00 GMT up to 22:00 GMT every day during the mentioned period. Once an account is migrated, it will be checked if the services are working as before. ( We can check if the website and emails are working fine, we can't check 3rd party apps which we can't see)
- If you encounter any problems after the migration, please open as soon as possible a ticket to support@virtueservers.co.uk and our team will assist you as soon as possible.
What can I do if my email services are not working and my website is not loading from my PC?
- Once the migration is done and the IP is changed, your PC/Router might have a DNS cache and it will not connect to the new IP. In order to resolve this, you can reboot your router or flush the DNS on your PC. The steps for this operation can be found below:
a) Open on your device a Command Prompt console
b) Type the command "ipconfig /flushdns" without "" and press enter.
a) Open the Terminal
Navigate to Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
b) Flush DNS - Type the following command and hit enter.
Mac OS X Yosemite and later
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
Mac OS X Yosemite v10.10 through v10.10.3
sudo discoveryutil mdnsflushcache
Mac OS X Mavericks, Mountain Lion and Lion
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
Mac OS X Snow Leopard
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
The migration will start on Saturday 02.03.2024 at 11:00 AM GMT and it will last until Sunday 03.03.2024. During the migration, the account might be inactive for 5-10 minutes and the website might not be accessible from some locations for up to 1 hour.
If you have any further questions regarding the migration, please don't hesitate to ask.
