Urgent server migration blade.speedyservers.com 22.01.22

If your domain is hosted on the blade.speedyservers.com server then starting Saturday 22.01.2022 we need to migrate all the cPanel accounts to a brand new server -  grut.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com

Why we are doing this?

The server at the moment is running on CentOS 6.10 which will not be supported by cPanel by the end of the year. cPanel will not offer assistance for the servers running on CentOS 6.10 as their new software will not be supported on this version. Security updates have not been released since December 2020.

Are there any new benefits? Yes.

The new machine will be a brand new server with the latest hardware which will speed up the running services. The machine will be installed with CentOS 7 so some new features will be added to the cPanel.

Are there any impacts on the services? No.

We will move the cPanel accounts to the new machine which is configured with the same settings as blade.speedyservers.com. The websites will be moved to a new IP address. (except the accounts with dedicated IP).

Are there any changes that should be done by YOU? Yes.

THIS WILL AFFECT ANYONE WHO USES GMAIL OR ANOTHER ONLINE MAIL CLIENT SOLUTIONS WHO HAVE THE SERVER SET TO SEND OR RECEIVE AS blade.speedyservers.com

As the server hostname will be changed to grut.ukwebsolutionsdirect.com, all the email clients configured for outgoing/incoming server with blade.speedyservers.com need to be changed to the new hostname. (You will need to do this operation if you encounter email problems).

The MySQL password should be changed with a stronger one (example "uUVtDMuL3Ey9yhp6"). If the password will not be changed, the MySQL server might change it to a random string and some services might stop working properly.

What happens if my services are affected?

We are migrating the services live on Saturday 22 January 2022. Once your account is migrated, the services will be checked if they are working as before. (We can check if the website and emails are working fine but we can't check 3rd party apps which we can't see such as Gmail). We urge you to test your emails to ensure they're sending and receiving as expected.

If you encounter any problems after the migration, please email support@virtueservers.co.uk and we will assist you as soon as possible.

What can I do if my email services are not working and my website is not loading from my PC?

Once the migration is done and the IP is changed, your PC/Router might have a DNS cache and it will not connect to the new IP. In order to resolve this, you can reboot your router or flush the DNS on your PC. The steps for this operation can be found below:

a) Open on your device a Command Prompt console
b) Type the command "ipconfig /flushdns" without "" and press enter.

For MAC OS

a) Open the Terminal

Navigate to Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal

b) Flush DNS - Type the following command and hit enter.

Mac OS X Yosemite and later
  sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
Mac OS X Yosemite v10.10 through v10.10.3
  sudo discoveryutil mdnsflushcache
Mac OS X Mavericks, Mountain Lion and Lion
  sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
Mac OS X Snow Leopard
  sudo dscacheutil -flushcache

The migration will start on Saturday 22.01.22 and it will last until Sunday 23.01.22. During the migration, the account might be inactive for 5-10 minutes and your website might not be accessible from some locations for up to 1 hour.

If you have any further questions regarding the migration, please don’t hesitate to ask.
